Born and raised in Italy, Amedeo M. Turello graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico di Torino.

By nature very versatile, Amedeo has many strings in his bow, but considers each new project as unique and exciting and demonstrates a strong and recognisable style in all his professional activities: from architecture to design and from marketing to publishing, his clear research and stylistic signature is always present. He has been a consultant for a number of international high-end luxury brands as well as art director for prestigious editorial projects. Since 1999 he has also dedicated himself to fashion photography.

His involvement with photography comes from a natural love for the visual arts and his interest in sociology, art and design. His work has documented the contemporary trends for leading fashion magazines and designers, while his refined photographic research, both on location and in the studio, indicates and highlights a perfect balance of relationships between culture, environment and subject.

His editorial and advertising work has appeared in major fashion magazines, and he has worked with some of the most iconic contemporary icons, including: Michelle Alves, Ana Beatriz Barros, Naomi Campbell, Laetitia Casta, Kevin Costner, Kiera Chaplin, Brooklyn Decker, Eva Herzigova, Lenny Kravitz, Noemie Lenoir, Erin O’Connor, Carré Otis, Tatjana Patitz, Maggie Rizer, Irina Shayk, Fernanda Tavares, Nicole Trunfio, Uma Thurman, Aymeline Valade… He has worked closely with designers such as Roberto Cavalli, Dean and Dan Caten (Dsquared), Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Alberta Ferretti, Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger, Antonio Marras and Elie Saab.

Through his lens, Amedeo has portrayed the personalities of a wide range of celebrities from the worlds of art, culture and couture and has quickly become an established name in the industry. Important artists and performers not only from the world of fashion have been the subject of his editorial and video projects, including: Andrea Bocelli, Roberto Bolle, Jessica Chastain, Sean Combs (Puff Daddy), Penelope Cruz, Carmen Dell’Orefice, Awa Duvernay, Boy George, Woopy Goldberg, Candice Huffine, Wyclef Jean, Kathleen Kennedy, Nicole Kidman, Fran Lebowitz, Rooney Mara, Julianne Moore, Helen Mirren, Marc Newson, Yoko Ono, Charlotte Rampling, RuPaul, Carine Roitfeld, Lea Seydoux, Patty Smith, Natalia Vodianova, Alicia Vikander, Serena Williams, Kate Winslet.

Amedeo was one of the first to believe in Dita Von Teese as a style icon and it was mainly thanks to him and his shooting ‘The Mistress and her Pupils’ that she was launched into the fashion world. He became an almost courtly photographer, working closely with a number of European royal families – he was the author of the now iconic official photograph of SAS Prince Albert II and SAS Princess Charlène of Monaco (one of the most published photos of 2010).

Passionate about aesthetics, naturally curious and meticulous, Amedeo has become a great collector of photographs. His personal collection of photographs “Mirrors of the Magic Muse” is a rare and remarkable archive both in terms of the number of images archived and their subject matter. The collection comprises over 500 images of the female photographic universe, each corresponding to her multifaceted idea of beauty. The collection has evolved to represent his personal journey through the language and expression of the female universe – from the traditional role of women in the society of the last century to the present day. The exhibition is on a continuous journey and is a critically and publicly acclaimed success everywhere.

For more than two decades he has also curated group and solo exhibitions with the most celebrated photographers, such as Lucien Clergue, Steve McCurry, David Douglas Duncan, Franco Fontana, Greg Gorman, Mimmo Jodice, William Klein, Peter Lindbergh, Helmut Newton, Bettina Rheims, Jock Sturges, Tim Walker, Albert Watson and the entire Weston family – Brett, Cara, Cole and Edward.
Since 2015 Amedeo has become the curator of the Pirelli Calendar, from “The Cal” exhibition at Palazzo Reale in Milan, he has been involved in many other exhibitions, curatorial and consultancy projects related to the Pirelli Calendar, including new digital opportunities.
Three books have been published about his work: “My Way” (2002), “10 Years Celebrating Women” (2009) and “The Naked Soul” (2019) in the latter sixteen women were asked to be themselves in their uniqueness, embodying the most authentic vision as a search and need for truth in today’s world. He has two new titles in production.
Amedeo M. Turello lives in Monaco and works mainly between the French Riviera, Milan, New York and Los Angeles.
